about

On the new single ‘Grandees’, Kúlu is back in familiar style. The music is wild, chaotic, noisy, witty, atmospheric and incredibly persistent. It is as if everything is up in the air on this track and up for negotiation in terms of direction and substance, but at the same time the listener is held safely in the hand by lead singer Dennisø unwavering patience and calming vocal performance.

‘Grandees’ was originally written by Dennis on his old grand piano and it was a very poetic and quiet song. But that all changed when the band member was playing around with the song in the studio. However the vocals from the original take have been retained to capture the poetic patience of the demo recording.

Kúlu describes the song as a metaphor for the world that is constantly spinning around all the while we decide whether we spin around with it, or if we let it pass us by.

lyrics

The overzealous pursuit
The yielding greed

The attainment of wealth
The personal gain

Want a lavishly life
As the grandees

Where's the joy
Where's the life
Can you change this path of life

Becomes the chief omega
But eyes now wide open

Experience the highest fall
The wrong pursuit

Want a lavishly life
As the grandees

Where's the life
Where's the smile
Where's the joy
Where's the smile
Can we change this path of life
