about

'Biggest Tone' is the brand new single from the Danish rock quintet Kúlu.

Where the band previously has played high tension and dramatic rock music with noisy surfaces, their new single 'Biggest Tone' shows a gentler, more pop-infused and thoughtful side of Kúlu. With a musical focus on atmospheric guitar effects and a motorized beat, 'Biggest Tone' displays dreamy highway rock, not unlike The War On Drugs. The guitar effects are rather strange, as they sound like synths, which is simply because the musicians in Kúlu are gigantic gear aficionados, so that the soundscape is really demanding and cool.

Lyrically, something very special is at stake in this song, as guitarist Daniel Buchwald wrote the song in connection with lead singer Dennis Winterskov's recent divorce. However, with the slight surprise that the lyric is written from the wife's point of view.

"I asked for a tear / You turned on the radio / I asked for a song / You just let me go."

lyrics

I parked the car
The clouds were making noises
Each gust telling a song
But it’s out of our radar

Your tortuous mind
Is mesmerizing
An unstoppable loop
But it’s leaving us behind

You’re always drifting away
A 1000 years from now
You’re mind is a tangled maze
It’s like that everyday

11 years with me on the pedestal
Too high for a thrill
Something you believed in
But know I’m standing still

———
I asked for a tear
You turned on the radio
I asked for a song
You told me just to let it go
———

I tried to hit through the painting
Wanted to taste every color
Feel the structure
I can’t feel anything

You see a light bulb in the night
Thinking about your next life
The sun rises
And you see all that you despite

You were my biggest tone
Neat as a pin
But the curtain has fallen
And I feel all alone

———
I asked for a tear
You turned on the radio
I asked for a song
You told me just to let it go
