Ghost 05:17
The ghost in the empty chair Casting shadows on the wall The ghost in the empty bed Wasn’t ment to be there at all The scars I can feel with my fingers Are getting deeper and deeper The scars, I’m feeling in my heart Are getting stronger and stronger I can see my heavy heels Making marks on the ceiling My thoughts seems to bloom They are causing the paper feeling I got a poison headache But I feel all right I don’t want a remake I want the ghost to see the light
2.
Biggest Tone 04:58
I parked the car The clouds were making noises Each gust telling a song But it’s out of our radar Your tortuous mind Is mesmerizing An unstoppable loop But it’s leaving us behind You’re always drifting away A 1000 years from now You’re mind is a tangled maze It’s like that everyday 11 years with me on the pedestal Too high for a thrill Something you believed in But know I’m standing still I asked for a tear You turned on the radio I asked for a song You told me just to let it go I tried to hit through the painting Wanted to taste every color Feel the structure I can’t feel anything You see a light bulb in the night Thinking about your next life The sun rises And you see all that you despite You were my biggest tone Neat as a pin But the curtain has fallen And I feel all alone I asked for a tear You turned on the radio I asked for a song You told me just to let it go
3.
Grandees 05:46
The overzealous pursuit The yielding greed The attainment of wealth The personal gain Want a lavish life As the grandees Where's the joy Where's the life Can you change this path of love Becomes the chief omega But eyes now wide open Experience the highest fall The wrong pursuit Want a lavish life As the grandees Where's the life Where's the smile Where's the joy Where's the smile Can we change this path of life
4.
Jove 05:34
Drink to me only with your eyes, And I will pledge with mine Or leave a kiss but in the cup And I will not ask for wine Drink to me only with your eyes, And I will pledge with mine The thirst, that from the soul will rise do ask a drink divine But might I of Jove's nectar sup I would not change for you Drink to me only with your eyes, And I will pledge with mine Drink to me only with your eyes, And I will not ask for wine I sent thee late a rosy wreath Not so much honouring thee As giving it a hope that there It could not withered be Drink to me only with your eyes, And I will pledge with mine Drink to me only with your eyes, And I will not ask for wine
5.
You’re taking the fall on my chest Saliva’s painting Svetlana is destroying our nest I’m right here You are kissing the boy next door Flashing limelight But never too far from shore I’m right here I’ll take you to places you don’t know You’re kicking I’ll take you to places you know the best You’re ricking You’re sticking out your tongue Flakes are falling Your dirge was unsung I’m right here You still feel the lust and tears Telling it with smiling shame We’ll dance in trust and fear I’m right here You hear Virginia’s words A stream of consciousness Amongst street haunting birds I’m right here I’ll take you to places you don’t know You’re kicking I’ll take you to places you know the best You’re screaming You still feel the lust and tears Telling it with smiling shame We’ll dance in trust and fear I’m still right here
6.
Seeking 05:47
Like floating on air Standing on the top Just trying to hang on Never want it to stop It feels like the moment Where I'm supposed to be Only we know the feeling That's so right for me Do it over and over It’s always new Always looking forward We’re ready to overdo Do it over and over It’s always new Always looking forward Ready to overdo Missed or bailed An amazing one But nobody saw it But you tell everyone Do it over and over Cause it’s always new Always looking forward We’re ready to overdo
7.
Stranger 05:38
8.
Is It Better 05:26
I will never understand, how it can be alright I will never understand, how it can ever feel right Is it better Is it more Is it you Is it better I’m afraid for the damage, that I know I can make And I’m afraid for my happiness, that I know you can take Is it better Is it more Is it you Is it better Your untold dreams, keeps us from being here Silent thoughts, hasn’t brought us anywhere Is it better Is it more Is it you Is it better

about

It’s been nearly two years since the Danish rock band Kúlu released their debut EP ‘Quiescence’. Now they are finally ready with their debut album ‘Lucidity’ coming out on January 29th, 2021 on Celebration Records.

The group balances their sound in a crossroads between high-potency noise and power discharges to crystal clear sound textures that authoritatively pave the way. As were they DNA threads that mutate and creates new meaning in sonic ramifications in all intermediate directions.
In other words, Kúlu is a band who is not afraid to explore sonorous territories, which is obvious to hear on ‘Lucidity’, which can be difficult to categorize genre-wise. But there are clear references to both Noise Rock and Post Rock.

The album carefully starts out with the track GHOST, which invites the listener into a delicate and porous atmosphere which almost leaves the listener uncertain if the song will stand or fall.

On the song BIGGEST TONE the band has created a dreamy highway rock song with elements of atmospheric guitar effects and a machinic beat.

Then over to GRANDEES to become chaotic, witty, atmospheric, noisy and yet incredible insisting on inviting into its playful musically and lyrically universe

With JOVE the band shows their brilliant sense of effervescent melancholy and then continues to balance between the porous and voluminous on I’M RIGHT HERE, where the soundscape and instruments sound like towering monument figures.

SEEKING unfolds Kúlus format and levitates on dark wings through a high-tension and trembling soundscape.

STRANGER is a tour-de-force of propulsion and dynamism when the Congolese percussion instrument Likembe complements the energetic drums towards the end.

Kúlu closes ‘Lucidity’ with the biggest roar on IS IT BETTER which, in a distinguished manner, takes the aforementioned musical facets to the extremes.
